The Australian United Fresh
Transport Advisory Committee Limited
(AUFTAC) is the national group that represents businesses involved
in the distribution of horticultural produce, which form an integral
part of the fresh food supply chain. The logistical support provided
by this sector adds considerable value to produce through the
provision of professional distribution services.
As the new millennium approaches, AUFTAC is moving to meet the changing business
environment so that it best positions itself to meet the
needs of its members. At the 1999 Annual General Meeting,
members endorsed broadening AUFTAC's membership base in
recognition of the need to develop strong strategic
alliances with other key operators within the
industry.
To be eligible to be
considered to become a member of AUFTAC, a company must have
substantial involvement in the transport and/or distribution
of horticultural products. Re-structuring is underway to
ensure that all segments of the group can focus on specific
issues.
Membership fees are at two
levels: an introductory membership for the first twelve
months for $600.00 and then standard membership at $1200.00
per annum.
Part of the role of AUFTAC
is to provide strategic leadership, direction and
representation of the sector to other industry stakeholders.
As part of this process, AUFTAC has developed a strategic
plan and will be expanding on its ' futuring ' work, so as to
underpin measurable business and distribution sector growth
in the medium to long term. Businesses, organisations and
government agencies who are:
-
looking to meet the future needs of the
horticulture industry;
-
forward thinking and recognise the benefits
and synergies to be gained by working in
collaboration at a strategic Level;
-
have a
substantial involvement in the transport
and/or distribution of horticultural
products
